VENT: What good are exportable BALD MODELS? Damn. I use Poser primarily to create figures to export to other 3d apps. Seems the least CL could have done would have been to note that P5 hair doesn't export in their ads somewhere. Yes, I've read jelisa's excellent tute on the P5 hair work-a-round, but this is a contorted and time-consuming procedure. While I am not totally sorry I upgraded to P5, this non-feature of P5 detracts from its usefulness for my purposes. No flames please.

No flame from me, but what 3d apps are you wanting to export to? 3dsmax/LW/Maya all have hair functions either built in or as plugins so exporting the hair cap should be enough to be able to grow hair in those programs.

CL did note that some P5 functions would not be supported by other apps.
If the app can render single edged vertex hairs, it will render.

"Seems the least CL could have done would have been to note that P5 hair doesn't export in their ads somewhere." That's unreasonable to expect. Any first year marketing student will tell you that the function of an ad is to promote.

Sorry, meant at the "Renderosity Convention" in the Poser 5 class.

If you have P4 you can test it with the treemaker app hair, same thing.

Not exporting is hardly a Poser exclusive - you can't get the landscapes out of Vue (except as a height map, no veg.) or, as far as I know, Bryce - which is of course why many people want their Poser figures to export. For now it looks like you will have to go back to compositing in Photo-whatever - does Poser 5 save images with decent masks?

Bryce can export the landscapes as most formats but things like the boolean objects or metaballs won't export. Oh yeah no veg from Bryce either.

just wondering out loud. would masa's fur-fur app work for this?

Right after I posted above... I was still thinking about it. Has anyone played with making Transmapped hair as dynamic clothing? You should be able to do some wonderouse stuff like that, It would take much less time to render, and would export. I smell a big market for the person with the right skills.

PabloS, I tried using fur-fur with the hair and got an error message when I loaded the hair. I never got it to load the hair. -darlisa
