I got a zillion newbie questions but I'll limit myself to three..
  1. I got wood texture... and I got mossy texture. How do I put wood AND moss together? I tried several combinations in the texture editor, but cant seem to get much moss to show up on the wood.

  2. Any nifty tricks to show some wind motion with fog/myst?

  3. How much does Poser cost? lol My ghost lady bites.

Thanks for any and all tips,
Blue

Well, for a newbie, you're off to a fantasmic start. Great image. 1 you can use channels, like in this screen shot. Notice that A and B are in different locations on the button bars. Experiment. 2. Use the skylab for fog and postwork the wind stuff. 3. Poser 4 can be bought on www.daz3d.com for about $200 or so and it comes with a 'voucher' for a $30 discount on the daz models. Its a great program. You don't need pro pack. You can upgrade to Poser 5 for about $180 but I don't recommend that at this stage. Get used to P4 first. Do some research. Look at the price of P4 at www.curiouslabs.com and look at the price here. You might even look at www.ebay.com but be careful about what they are selling (some good deals on unopened boxes, some rip offs on used and registered stuff). Good luck and hope to see more of your stuff.

Very nice image. For wood and moss, you can also check the terrain and special effects textures. Sometimes you can use an existing texture, then play with the settings to make it fit what you want it to do. I think you can only get good wind effects doing post work. If you are feeling daring, you might experiment with a cloud plane. You might also check amazon for prices on Poser. Or if you have a used software store around you, they might very occasionally get a copy in. Keep up the good work. Lin

Thanks Lin and Eric. I'm going to have to dig deeper into the texture mapping modes and the different settings involved. I finally got a fairly decent wood/moss texture, but I'm sure it shouldnt take 89 clicks and three cups of coffee. I even just now figured out you can have multiple channels set for the same property.. for example channel A, B, and C all for ambience. I can see Bryce is gonna take alot of time to learn. As for Poser, $200???? Yea right! I just blew my software budget with Bryce and Photoshop... for probably the next decade! Looks like it's Miss Terrain for awhile. Thanks again for the encouragment and help, Blue
