Hello I am new to bryce. I been trying to import the millinum dragon into Bryce from Poser 4. When ever I try I get a bad media file. Now I have been able to make a few other figures go into Bryce before with no problem. So I am just wondering what could be going wrong this time. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Here's usually the first suggestion; Why exactly this happens, I don't know. What I do: I export out of Poser, then load the .obj into a freeware program called "UVMapper Classic", do nothing to it, and then re-save it, again as the .obj. This should fix it for importing into Bryce. Why exactly this fixes it, I don't know. It just does.

There is also a another freeware program called "Grouper 1.3". I've read were the new version will also correct 3D file inconsistencies (spelling?). So, it may do the same thing as UVMapper and...Grouper's main function is to make sure all your Poser textures stay where they are supposed to on your .obj as you take it into Bryce. So, that may be even better for you. I haven't tested the new Grouper 1.3, so I can't say for absolute ceratin (about correcting .obj's). But it may be worth a shot also. AgentSmith

I had the same problem, but I found that in poser, export the dragon with the defaults. It worked for me this way. ---- Scott.

I tried for days to import the dragon until darlisa showed me Grouper 1.3, worked like a charm.madmax_br5 posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 3:28 AM

This is a program written by darlisa and hangtime that is very similar to grouper. It automatically fixes objs and creates a duplicate while also AUTOMATICALLY maps textures onto any poser import given you have the .mtl file.Trouble posted Mon, 23 September 2002 at 8:20 AM
You usually get the error when you save a .obj file in Poser Pro. It inserts a line with #ind in it. All those have to be replaced with a space. I used to do it in wordpad but now I use Metalfixer and in 5 secs I can import the dragon. Saved a lot of hair pulling.

Thanks everyone! I tried them both ways with the UVMapper and the Grouper. With the UVMapper you have to add in all the textures with the Grouper they all showed up on the model with out me doing anything. Very Cool. Thanks again ;)
