I'm sure some of you have heard this before, but I'd really like to get some info before deciding. I plan to purchase a 3D modeler as my next software investment. I've narrowed it down to Rhino 3D or Carrara, with the leaning toward Carrara because of its multi-functionality. My biggest concern is whether or not it will run like Bryce or like Poser - which is to say, Bryce loads on my computer (Pentium II MMX 400 MHz 128 Meg RAM) in about 35 seconds and has no noticeable delay to any actions aside from rendering while Poser 4 takes about 2 minutes to load and normally takes about 5-6 seconds just to bring up a numerical entry box. If it's the latter, I'd just as soon not strain my patience and instead go with Rhino (which runs pretty cleanly in the demo). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Malenchite

I've got a PII 400 256mb RAM running WIN98SE. Bryce sucks. I hate that software. Only becouse the render engine is way way to slow. I havent ever timed it before as far as loading but I would say it comes up pretty quick. Poser renders really fast and comes up in about 30-45 seconds, I would say, on my system. Carrara takes about the same as Poser or maybe a little faster...It depends on how many shaders and stuff you have loaded. Carrara render times are good. All depends on the scene. If you want to make models then I would get Rhino. If you want a more rounded package I would go with Carrara. Clint
