@Dreamer GRRRR ;)

I was just trying to put a quick "step by step" with images and all!!!

I'll still do it thou... just you beat me to the punch!

@Fire9, if you have a digital tablet (Wacom...) it's a lot easier to do. You can still do it with a mouse, it's just eaiser with a pen...

i'll be back,
:)

@ESP, good method for text, with some modification for an image it should work.

@Fire9Anime, sorry RW commitments have eaten up my time... i think the modification for an image rather than text would be to isolate a copy of the element you want to "flame" and make it on it's own layer. Then adjust the image to "Desaturate" (remove the colour, adjusting the contrast for stronger black and whites) the rest should work well. Erase the "non"flamed part on the layer to allow the underlying original element to show through.

haven't tried it yet to ensure it would work but this gives you a "jump-off" point.

DON'T USE the eye candy fire. Ewww! They said they wanted Fire, not that crud Eye Candy makes.

Fire is easy with or without a tablet, though tablets are always faster and more fun.

Do this:

make a new layer

using a relatively hard brush, blot in the white points of the fire. The hottest bits.

Use the smudge tool (at 100% with tablet or 65%-85% pressure without) to smear the white about. Make it look like smoke. Fire is merely glowing smoke.

Now to make it glow...
Add a layer below this layer. Fill it with black. Merge the smoke down.

Change the merge mode of the combined layer to screen.

Adjust hue/saturation. Colourise mode. Turn up the saturation really high and set the colour to a colour you'd want.

allow me to quote you "They said they wanted Fire, not that crud Eye Candy makes." I didnt insult you, just posed a question. You telling me that isn't an eyecandy filtered fire? Quit hiding behind a TOS you obviously don't understand.

I'm no longer taking part in this conversation. Your message was a deliberate attempt to start a fight and was nothing more than destructive in attempt. Your trolling has already been forwarded to admin. I'd advise you not to pick fights on Renderosity if I felt such advice would be taken.
