This may not apply to your system but if you have this issue it can be maddening until you realize what caused it. I had many issues in Poser 5 that appeared to be video related (screens not redrawing properly, or slowly). These issues were not solved by downloading and installing the latest 4041 Detonator drivers for my Nvidia Riva TNT2/Model 64 card. I was previously running the Detonator 6.13.10.2311 drivers and have since rolled back to them since the Poser 5 issue is no worse and it fixes the problems I had with the new drivers. The driver problem, Window Media Player froze and took a very long pause to open even the littlest avi file on my hard drive and it took minutes to open anything larger. Opening something from the web it might totally freeze despite my high speed connection when this used to work great. Ctrl alt delete worked so slowly that I just had to get up and wait on it to finally load the movie file and play it then shut it down.
I know lots of folks have talked about updating their video drivers, some Nvidia folks around here too. Just a heads up if you notice the problem I did. This is an off the shelf HP 7966 system with no hardware changes, P4-1.7GHz, 512MB RAM, Win XP Home. This video card is found in dozens of low cost systems.
