Hi, _I know that my english is not very fluent, but however, I am going to try and let you know a poem that I translated from a famous big contemporary European poet: The one(s)from you all who can find from whom this poem is from, would, will certainly win...A NICE JACK-POT !!! Of course, I am not good enough in English to translate & write the text with rimes.Sorry. Title in English would be: The man in the City "Let's hope that a man comes to us At the Gates of the City, Make Love be his kingdom And Hope be his Guest Could he be the same as the trees That my father had planted Proud ones and noble ones as a Summer Night And make the Children's Laughs That chime in his head, Can spatter with a glint of Holiday Let's hope that a man comes to us At the Gates of the City Make his look be a Psalm Made out of Shining Suns May he never be bending his knees In front of all the gold of some rich lord But sometimes for picking a flower. And make him chase away with a wave of his hand Forever and always, Any solutions that would be without Love Let's hope that a man comes to us At the Gates of the City May he be not a Balm But a Strength, a Brightness And may his Anger be a Fair one A Young, Foolish and Pretty Anger As the Storm is. May he never be wise neither old And may he chase again from the temple The Writer without an Opinion, The Merchant of Nothings, The Merchant of Calling-ups, The merchant of Illusions Let's hope that a man comes to us At the Gates of the City, Before the other men Who live in the City, Humiliated, with their bruised Hopes And full-handed with their cold anger, Erect, in the Dark of creepy nights, Some new Barricades." I did what I could. It's one of my favorite ones. It was never translated in English, so I have used some bad english of mine to do it. Don't you think we need some good Poetry translators in USA, please...know anyone ?
