humorix, I never mentioned cheese. Einstien was wrong about alot of stuff most noteably his views on shaving, Shakespheare was intentionally misquoted in that thread, Napolean was a petty dictator with a rather large following who wasn't worth listening to. Meatballs? And how does one justify using their superior talent as a reason to use superior tools - all the while stating that its the artist not the tool? If one truely has superior talent they should be able to win a contest with a lesser tool. as for quotes, "You may note be able to change the world, but at least you can embarrass the guilty." - Jessica Mitford - TJ
humorix posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 1:19 AM
Hey TJ, I'll admit to taking creative freedom with the cheese to appease the mouse in u! ;-) And if Einstein was correct about all being relative, then right and wrong would be absolute positions, in themselves relative thus incapable of being absolute right? And as the large following wasn't listening to Napoleon I guess they must have been enamoured by his body language! ;-) Would that be audacity? And, ummmm, TJ I never justified use of superior talent with superior tools. I still maintain that talent reigns supreme. But we seem to be stuck in the Bryce5 v/s Bryce3 orbit. What would appease you? Somebody take on Rhino with Bryce? Well I'm willing! Pick a topic and lets have a challenge! :-P Umm am I embarrassed or am I guilty? I wonder. And as you can see folks...the War on Bryce heats up!!!!! :-D Have a great Sunday TJ!
Zhann posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 1:24 AM
I'm with Bikermouse, the talent, or creative spark, lies within the artist, a tool is just that, a means to an end. "If the talent is there you can create masterpeices with mud and coffee grinds..."-Anonymous (albeit rather monochromatic) :)

Ummm Zahn I'm with Bikermouse too! ;-) But what Biker has said is with reference to the discussion we are having at the Bryce Guru's contest link (check link on first post) and about usage of various version of Bryce! :-)
bikermouse posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 1:57 AM
humorix, First of all, A dicussion is not a fight. Second a discussion is not a war. If you want to unilaterally escalate it to such, that's on you. We should be able to discuss this in a proper manner without resorting to prsonal insult or feelings getting hurt, but apparently it's not gonna happen so I'll stand on what I have said already and hang back and listen. It is not my intent to enter into a flame war with anyone, only to offer a divergent viewepoint. That thing about cheese was a little over the line though. Bikermice only use cheese on Pizza ant then only when lotta beer is handy to wash it down with. on Mars it must be Monday, - TJ.

Wooooops! My friend TJ, I don't think you would stand much chance in the newspaper biz! Pal, I was selling headlines!!!!! ;-) It definitely was with no intention to hurt any feelings! All that has been said is in the most jocular of vein as against belicose, and by reactions of most it seem to be taken in the same vein! It definitely was not meant to hurt any feelings, and in case that is the case ...I APOLOGISE!!! Most sincerely! I do agree that we are having a discussion, but may I point out in my defence, a snowball fight is a war too ;-). Your viewpoints are most welcome and respected! In fact I don't see you offering any divergent views at all...you just offered us your concern and them being legitimate will be addressed. But I'll plead guilty to using that which was being discussed and sensationalising it a bit (been too long in the advertising biz to miss out on a chance) so that more may express their views on this subject and we end up having an event which is more focussed and holistic! None of what I had said was meant to be personal in any way whatsoever! I do compliment you on your choice of pizza toppings and refreshment and am sorry cant provide the same in person. :-) P.S. Mars has 9 1/2 day weekand dont have a Moon to name a day afterso guess they dont have no Monday nor Monday morning blues either! ;-) Avi

bikermouse posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 9:45 AM
Zhann, My guess - an egg from a 'not quite a chicken yet' bird. If you believe in the Creation as told in Genesis then you would have to say the chicken. Either way I guess you'd have to have been there to say for sure. Zen seems to ask more questions than it answers, not so? Agent Smith, You don't need to thank me for having good taste. I didn't comment on the other one because I couldn't see why someone would have that many globes on the table. I still have to erase the scientist to draw the artist in the canvass of the mind as they are drawn on and fill the same page. humorix, I guess I'm still overly sensitive about a continuing series of arguments I had with a now banned member several months back. Since that time I try not to be too argumentitive, and try to curtail any discussion that looks like it is headed negatively at some point before it gets out of hand. Unfortionately, you got a small dose of my oversensitivity. I am sorry. Zhann(again), People who I think are Gurus who are either Mods or as far as I know not Brycers and thus not interested in the outcome: Agent Smith, smerc, Lyrra, Sharen Custer, hauksdottir, Anton, Kozaburo, Scott Ayres . . . there are many others. Any of these and many others who have the time and inclination would probably be good judges should it be necessary to go beyond the normal voting process. gonna go get some rest now, - TJ

My globe-thing pic. It's my version of Paul Debevec's "Rendering With Light", it was a pre-cursor to "Fiat Lux" which are the most recognized Image Based Lighting projects. Anyway...his had 8 globes, so mine had 8, that's all, lol. I think they used 3D Studio Max for theirs. Oh...I am anything but a guru. Ummm Zhann, me thinks it was a scrambled egg which came before the chicken! The poached egg was still in conception and Sunny side up had been made obscure due to all the clouds in the ice age!
Zhann posted Sun, 29 September 2002 at 11:50 PM
Agent Smith, I understood the globes, no need to explain... Speaking of eggs, I need to do up my grocery list... TJ, everyone will be interested in the out come of a Guru challenge, even those you mention, what consitutes a Guru, is it extraordinary artistic talent, exceptional software, unusual technical ability, the sum of Bryce knowledge, and once you become a Guru, the pinnacle of achievement, is there more to strive for...then again a Guru is also a leader of sorts, will our Guru endeavor to help the struggling Brycist comprehend Bryce in all it's infinite manifestations? But I get ahead of myself, we need to first have the competition...and yes you're right, it's does bring up more questions than answers, the quest for answers is messy that way..."the moving finger writes and having writ moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line nor all thy tears wash out a word of it..."
