Hi, I can not run the SR1 patch for Poser 5. When I double click it, it shows a small window with black background for less than a second, then it's gone. I am on Windows 2000,and yes I am the Administrator of my system, or at least, i should be (I'm not 100% sure of how it is managed). If anyone can help with further instructions on how to run the patch on a Win2000 computer - thank you.

I am having trouble on a Win2000 machine as well. My service pack is saying that I don't have Poser 5 installed on my system. I DID install the software directly off of the root -- C:Poser 5 and think that might be the problem(?). I've tried moving the patch file directly into the P5 folder, moving my entire Poser 5 folder into "Program Files" but nothing seems to work. I too have Administrative Privledges, etc. Don't know what else to add here as far as details of my system. Any takers? Thanks

Orio : Are you sure you got all the patch? Check properties of the folder to make sure it matches the file size on the CL site.

Rance the answer to your problem was in a different thread, you need to reinstall Poser then run the patch again, it'll work then.

My patch was downloaded completely. Besides, if the download was faulty/incomplete, the patch would not even show that window, it would simply give an error message (which I don't get).

No, it didn't on my computer when I was knocked off. It appeared as a setup file of 1.2mgs. Thus my humble suggestion. Luck Q

Quixote: I meant it would give an error message when you try to run an incompletely downloaded exe (not after the download itself). Anyway: I would like to know if anyone there with a Win2000 did manage to install the patch, and how did they do it. OR, if someone from CL is reading this, if they could give help. Thanks, Orio

I did not get an error message. When I double-clicked the installer icon, it changed colour and then nothing happened. I'm on Win2K. Once I finished the complete download, it installed fawlessly. Q

That's weird. Anyway your symptoms are not the same as mine. I'll try to download again, although the filesize here and the CL site coincide. Thanks for the help. Anyone else with a SR1-Win2000 experience?
quixote posted Sat, 05 October 2002 at 9:09 AM
Yes it is weird. An incomplete download should not produce a setup icon. That's why I thought it might be relevant. Good luck. Q

I got both, Poser 5 and SR1 on one Day (Yesterday) :-) Installed Poser5, than registered (important) SR1 wont work without finished registration. Than installed SR1 without Problems. Runs perfectely. So far, I have no problems with Poser 5 on my Win2K Prof. System. It runs smoothly. Ali

The patch isn't working for me either. I double click and nothing happens. Running XP pro with administrator privilages. I tried it on both my laptop and desktop with the same results. When I view the properties of the file, it shows 47.2 mb or 49,569,302 'size' and 'size on disk' as 49,569,792. Doug

Well, I could not complete the download of the big patch. I tried for hours. Then I downloaded the two parter, and finally it worked. Q

To all, I reinstalled the Poser 5 software and then ran the service patch (on a Windows 2000 machine) and everything seems to be working now. I did allow the software to install to the default directory. I was worried about my registration and all that but my serial number was already in place and I had no registration issues at all. I even went so far as to move my Poser 5 folder back to my root directory and every thing still seems to be working fine. There was a second release to the SR1 file yesterday (I think) and I downloaded the newer file. I was high speed and had no real download issues though the dl seemed a bit slow. I assume that was traffic on the CL site. All seems well. For now :::evil laugh::: Rance
