How do I stop the sunlight and other directional lights from following the camera every time I move it? I'm tired of repositioning the silly lights every time I move the camera to get a different view in a scene. Is there a way to lock them in place without pointing them at a specific object? Kate

Just select your directional light and then uncheck in the material window (at top of the world browser) the box "ALWAYS POINT AT CAMERA". :-) Guitta

Opps, I forgot : Directional light is very special. You should read page 58/59 of the manual. It is important to understand how works directional light. Not to confound with any other light source ! Guitta

Thanks Guitta. I tried unclicking the "point at camera" box, but it didn't work for some reason and every time I move the camera, I have to move the sun back so it shines in through the window or I lose the shadows from the curtains on the walls. Could it be a memory problem, you think? Kate

Kate, there is also a setting on the Sun panel that you may need to check (or un-check). It's usually not set, but yours may be, so take a look at that one. (Click the Sun/Light icon across the top of the screen, then choose the Sun tab, and it should be clear what setting to look at.) :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/

Have you got it, Kate ? If not, does this happen even in a new Vue file ? Guitta

Ok, I tried all your suggestions. It didn't work, but when I shut down, defragged, rebooted and started back up, it was fine and everything stayed where it was supposed to. I guess my system just got tired? :) Either that or I've got a huge memory problem somewhere that I need to track down. sigh One thing I did discover in all this, a point light in the right place works wonderfully to simulate the morning sun shining in a window. It gives off just the right amount of glare if you set the power between 20 and 40 somewhere. Kate

Thanks for the tip Kate. I'll be very happy if they fix the memory leak or whatever in Vue. Plus having to manually close that winhlp32 thing every time I shut down Vue is a pain too. Gail

Yeah, I'm with you on that one, Gail. Oh well, I have stuff that loads up every time I boot up that I have to do an end task on (video card and sound card stuff) so the winhlp is a minor irritation. Kate who wishes they would give you an option to turn off some of these darn TSRs when you install new stuff
