I'm trying to create my own character by exporting the P4NudeWoman to Rhino to work on, or at least some parts of her. It's the export/import I'm having problems with. 1. Using Traveller's tut on full body morphing, I downloaded Compose to make a single mesh.obj while saving all of the info re: parts. I'm okay to the part where the program has read the P4NudeWoman.obj file, merged all of the parts, and name the new object Body. But at that point, there's supposed to be a folder on the left that says "Body_jv." There's nothing on the left. That side has gone gray, as have the buttons below. I've written to John Wind, creator of Compose, but haven't heard back. 2. Using Traveller's tut on the basics of morphing in Rhino, plus the Poser manual, I use Obj23dm to convert an obj. body part to a Rhino file. I use the Flow Along Curve command, as he suggests, which doesn't change the number of vertices, as far as I can tell. I don't touch any of the control points. But when I get it back into Poser, I get "Incorrect number of vertices." I've tried this several times with the same result. If I don't do anything to the body part in Rhino, it's okay back in Poser. Any suggestions on either problem?

One thing that I have found that sometimes fixes the "Incorrect number of vertices." error is to import the morph obj file into Poser as a model first (Uncheck all of the boxes). Do nothing with it except export it back out (Uncheck everything except "Export as a morph). Poser will somehow/sometimes fix the vertice count and now it will now be usable as a morph.

Please try out Travelers tutorials at Morph World. I think that will help you. Chris

Ok here is an example. After importing Vic into Rhino and making a morph for her chest, we export just the chest as an obj file. Use the settings in the pic. Object name, layer name, and material settings can be unchecked for morphs but will not hurt anything. You will want those checked for other projects. Make absolutely sure "Y Up" is unchecked. This Rhino version of Vic's chest will not be usable in Poser as a morph. It will bring up the "Incorrect number of vertices." error. Import the obj file that we exported from Rhino into Poser (as a prop, not as a morph) with all of the boxes unchecked. Then export it back out with only the "Export as morph" box checked. This new file as it has been exported from Poser will be usable as a morph. This works. I just tested it, and I did not need to use compose at all.

Thanks, guys! Roy - I just printed out your suggestions and will try this afternoon. Muchas gracias! Chris - I was following Traveller's tuts (which I think are great--the Flow Along Curve command, which I didn't know anything about, is really helpful), but I guess he never had any problems with Compose!
