Has anyone gotten a response from Curious Labs about the
Service release on CD? I have sent e-mails to them and
have no reply. I have a slow modem and can not download
that big file. I don't know if I did something wrong in my
request or if they are not responding to anyone.
Please let me know if anyone has recieved anything from them.

hey skee just download the exe file for now. That solves most problems. Ron

Thanks for the advice, but with a file that size it would take me about 4 hours and I can't have my phoneline tied-up for that long. Maybe I can do it tonight.

I've had the same problem. I've email them twice and have gotten no response. I told them I wasn't in a big hurry for it either which I'm not because I went back to using Poser 4, but I think we are all due at least an acknowledgement of the email like most "real" companies do. I downloaded a program called Download Accelerator Plus that downloads in groups of fours so the process is much quicker. I did it overnight and in less time so CL can stick the CD. I've noticed that the patch has added some more problems that others have mentioned. I couldn't get on that bandwagon in the threads because I had not installed the patch yet. I noticed that in the Pose Room (the main window) that I can't resize the model window even though its not locked. The Parameter Dials are still a P.I.T.A. as they overlap everything and take up too much space. Why couldn't they just leave things alone? I hate this version of Poser and don't plan to upgrade again unless CL gets their act together! I'm waiting to see what DAZ does with their program. P5 is a piece of crap!

Thanks, whbos ..From what I have been able to play with in Poser 5 I like a lot. If I can keep it from crashing. I don't understand why it will work sometimes and not others but I think for the money (when it works) it is great. I hope that Daz will have the same features when it comes out with something. Sorry if it takes me a long time to reply to peoples posts, but I have to go off the net and back on so I don't tie up my phone for to long. thanks again for your help. skee

Since the patch is so big and it had to be released so soon it would be nice if we all got complimentary CD copies of it, which could include the missing content from the bonus CD. Hey CDs are cheap! If not for us, at least the update should be included with new Poser 5 purchases so they don't have to go through the arduous download process. I had to let mine run over night, I'm certain it took over 6 hours. One thing I hate nowadays is that all companies seem to think that everyone has and can afford broadband internet access. I have a contract with MSN for another year (no DSL in my area), and even when it's up I'm not sure if I can afford the costs of a cable connection.

What?

elsja posted Thu, 10 October 2002 at 6:22 PM

The Patch is available for free at CL. Renderosity sell Poser 5. May be they can create a item in the Market Place that contains the patch for 0 $. Like this people wish get the CD can choose this method. Guy

I don't think Renderosity should have to sell a patch CD for CL's mistakes. CL should step up to the plate and make good on a bad product. I gave up waiting, but was fortunate enough to download it overnight and have it install. The bad thing was that after installing, I've had to uninstall Poser 5 and reinstall it without the patch because the patch caused more problems. I'll just wait until the next patch and hopefully by then I'll have a faster computer which might help some.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern here. I'm on a slow phone connection too. So I've only installed the updateapp.exe patch. And I don't have the problems people are having. It could be that there is a problem in the figures update for some people. So for anyone out there who has problems with the full update. You might consider downloading the 13meg. app only patch and give that a try. ScottA

Yes there is a problem with the full download... I finally got it (6hrs 12min) and now I can't run the version of Poser 5 that was running before the patch. I have even reloaded the pose5 that I had with no patch and it will not run . all I get is a blank screen and my computer will not rebot without a full power kill. If I try to reload P5 it reloads but will not run...it makes the computer screen black and I have to kill the power to restart. 850 mhz 256ram win98 ati vid card 60gig hd sorry I downloaded the patch!!!!!!!!!!

Starlet, Will those who but Poser 5 now or in the future have to download the patch or can it be sent to them via CD when the program is ordered? I realize that most of the packages going out now nand in the newar future have probably already been burnt, but a patch CD could easily be included when mailing out the new software orders.

Actually, CL should be able to apply the patched code to the original code so that new installs would only need to run one install; presuming that they will alter the production code at all.
