Am I totally loosing my mind!!!! All of a sudden when I try to apply reflection maps to imported props (3ds)they dont work!!!! I am ready to smash my screen HHHEEELLLP!!!!!!

First, instead of smashing the screen try holding a mirror up to it, maybe it will get the hint. Second, I believe the prop has to have UV coordinates for reflection maps to work. I must confess ignorance: does the 3DS file format always have a UV mapping? If not, you may need to add one. Exporting the prop as an OBJ file and using UVmapper is one way to do this.

I'm 99% certain that Geekholder is right, a prop/object needs to be UVmapped before it will take a reflection map. (I never use reflection maps in P4 - most of my rendering is done in Bryce which handles reflections much better than P4) Paul

Doesn't it have to be an OBJ in order to be UV mapped? Try converting the 3DS to an OBJ and see what happens. I could be wrong. Melanie

3DS and Lightwave formats apply texture maps, not by UV coordinates, but by projecting the map at such a scale from such a point in such a direction onto each group that has a map.
