I just got the same thing. Don't know what's causing it.

This is TalleyJC on X1's machine.... I've noticed the black render if you have a model using P5 materials but attempt to do a p4 render.... just a possibility

Whoops sorry..... Being P5 is so bug ridden I still use it to.... I had that problem with p4 only a few times as well.... What I found was that the shadow maps that were generated swamped the windows swap files in some weird way and not often..... but what fixed it was reboot or defrag your hd..... (both tend to correct the swap files)

Are sure the camera is not in a wall? if it is then that is why

It's a Poser lighting bug. Happens when changing light sets from targeted spots to omnis. Only solution is to close Poser and open again. I even think the bug survives a trip to a saved pz3. I think Blackhearted figured it out but I don't remember the details.

Maybe restarting poser to factory default settings will help in the short term to get you rendering again.

I've had a similar problem several times and what helped me was to delete all the lights in the scene, then load a new light set. I hope this helps! Sue
