Hi to all at the forum. Been away from here for a couple of weeks, and missed it much. The reason I was gone last week was I was in the Smokey Mountains on the Appalachian Trail. The day these were taken was an extremely foggy day, and although I was disappointed in missing out on some overviews, the fog created some pretty interesting scenes. I kept the file sizes as small as I could before they started getting too soft. Comments and/or suggestions always welcome. The leaves there were behind schedule for turning color, but a few had just started like you can see on this first one.

Thats my daughter climbing on the rock ahead. If the fog hadnt been there, and she could have seen how deep the drop off was, she probably would have backed off. Of course having been there many times before, I let her know where to stop.

One of the few times the fog momentarily broke. This gives a good look at the nearby ridge, which was re-consumed in the fog moments after I took this picture.

My older son going to retrieve my younger son, who was just getting just a little too close to the edge, which by the way was a massive drop. But in the fog, you cant tell, and it can lower your guard. I had so many shots, and tried to narrow it down to 4 or 5, but it was difficult to drop any more. Hope you liked them.

Awesome shots Marshall! What a beautiful place to be hiking (if a little scary) I love the first two, and number 6 is particularly beautiful as well...thanks for sharing. I'm glad you and your family are all back in one piece!

Waiting for the load Marshall, glad you kept the file size down, think my line is glowing red. LOL Wow! Some nice pictures here, a nice feeling of cold and fog. Like #6 a great feeling of depth, the rocks are great against the foggy hillside. :O)
