Can anyone offer a solution to the problem of importing 3ds format into Bryce 5. My problem is that the model explodes into its components. It doesn't happen for every 3ds model, but quite a few have this problem. I tried importing these 3ds models into 3d Studio v 4 and there is no problem. Re-exporting in 3ds still causes the same problem in Bryce. I tried reinstalling Bryce but the problem persists. If anyone can offer a work around I would be grateful.

Could you explain what you mean by 'explodes into its components'? I can't say I've ever had a problem with 3ds objects - perhaps you could give a link to an example?

I've never had this problem too. But you could try opening the 3ds file with deep exploration and then save it under another name. This should fix any problems with the model. Hope it helps, TT.

I've had that happen, in the past I have just selected the part and put it back where its supposed to be. It's never been really bad, though. Has nothing to do with having to re-install Bryce. There are just SO many formats out there with SO many programs that that can put each of those formats together slightly diffrenetly, that there are sometimes problems... AgentSmith

I've had no problems importing 3ds, only with dxf, could you try saving in obj see if it happens then...? For me 3ds is the least troublesome of the formats...
