Hello friends I need a support for increasing the speed of FireFly renderer. I have loaded one Pz3 file and When I change a camera to one place Rendering takes around 5 mins but when I change it to another place rendering takes around 1 hour. Some objects reducing the peed of this renderer. What is the solution.

Nerd posted some excellent tips on reducing the render times here a couple of weeks ago.

Attached Link: To light a fire under the Fly
here you go :) went past it 3 times before I found it.thgeisel posted Fri, 25 October 2002 at 7:25 AM
what really slows the firefly down is raytraycing ,so only switch on if you realy need it.( real reflection) p5 strandbased hair works well in firefly, slows down raytracing a bit,and with raytraced shadows it slows down the best pc. every transparency, volumtric effects, reflection slows the render down

None of the above are actually correct. This problem (bug) has nothing to do with the general optimisations, memory utilisation, raytracing or polygon subdivision. I've mentioned this in the SR1 beta forum (link at the page banner above) and I'm trying to reproduce it accurately. At the moment I have one scene with a single light source and a single (one-sided) square, no shadows or raytracing which shows some degree of 'rendering hit' (about an 18 minute render on a 2GHz machine) at certain camera positions. If I have time I hope to put up a bug report and get a pz3 to CL. In the meantime it could be worth looking at whether your problems are due to the camera proximity to a square, or similar object (maybe a backdrop prop) and see if deleting it will help. Bill

And, of course, I meant the SR2 (not SR1) beta forum, although the problem seems to have existed since the launch of P5, and may have been (considering its severity) the cause of so many, unsubstantiated, render freeze problems. Bill

The latest patch (SR2-Beta2) from CL seems to have fixed this problem in all of the test scenes that I was using to run it down. Bill
