That looks excellent. What did you do to get that type of atmosphere? Evo
Lapis posted Sun, 27 October 2002 at 10:05 PM
You show us such interesting stuff. Now we all want to know how you did it of course. You know pokey, when I see that scene, I think how cool it would be to use a similar atmosphere effect on a nativity scene. Anyone feel like modeling an entire nativity scene in time for Christmas?

Thanks everyone :) And Lapis I got the animals from BryceTech, and suggest he make a baby in the manger to go with his animals! Great minds think alike! lol I saved the scene, so I will open it up again and show you the settings I used in a bit. Right now I am testing something for someone.

that's a good one. thanks much for the settings... I've been working all weekend on atmosphere, but for some reason it just comes out bright. I have the volume density basically off...turned way down to .001.... I have 3 spotlights, turned their intensity down, and made the light cone with angle max at 30...maybe its still too big.....no infinite light.... But the render is pretty much washed out as if there is an infinite light somewhere. It will be great if CL tweaks the atmosphere to allow us to choose which light to apply atmosphere to... I would like to be able to use an infinite light and then have a spot to enhance an area, such as light coming from a window, through clouds, smoke, etc

Your welcome :) You can see on mine I only used 1 light, but it would have been cool to use another, as I have the dad cyl as background and there is a little house you can't see in my render.

that's where some low level infinite light would be nice...but if you use it now...poof...everything vanishes :) It seems like 1 or 2 lights are about all that you can use effectively...I think that is my problem. I'll work on it some tonight....after the dreaded work session.

Thanks Pokey. I apreciate you guide for the cool effect you've achieved there. "It will be great if CL tweaks the atmosphere to allow us to choose which light to apply atmosphere to... I would like to be able to use an infinite light and then have a spot to enhance an area, such as light coming from a window, through clouds, smoke, etc" Dave, I totally agree. It will offer so many interesting variables that way from particualar light sources. Another example would be a light beacon from a light house while in the same picture the moon is glowing. The programmers at CL are probably saying "okay Dave, Lapis, shut up already"(lol). shut up all ready
