Please read these posts...I am apparently having VERY serious problems with a moderator on this board. I am contacting Renderosity administrators about it right now. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=931848 and http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=931999 I am not trying to create more problems on this board. I am trying to resolve a problem that I started the other day in an appropriate manner. Each time I post this message, JeffH moves it over to the Forum News and Team Contact Forum. This thread really belongs here, and I feel that JeffH's meddling with it is entirely inappropriate considering his role in this.Lapis posted Mon, 28 October 2002 at 4:16 PM

Heh... Dammit sbertram, don't you know there are rules here? They are: 1. Your posts are subject to deletion or movement to another forum at the moderator's discretion. 2. The moderator knows all. 3. The moderator doesn't need to give you answers. 4. If you question the moderator's motives, he can give you a warning ( ESPECIALLY if there was an apology somewhere in the post - What were you thinking apologizing? Don't you know people have been banned for that before?! ) Please remember these unwritten rules when posting. And whatever you do, don't mail the following people: tammymc@renderosity.com timmc@renderosity.com audre@renderosity.com spike@renderosity.com Aww screw listing them all... Just pull the list off the "Team" page... And if you wish to not deal with having posts moved or deleted, just swing over to www.poserpros.com. No worries, Spike... maybe Jeff should get this one moved to: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=931005&Reply=931045 It's bothering me because it's so unrelated to Poser... Spike, you realize this whole thing would have quietly resolved some time ago had he just left the post? Everyone had had their say, and it wasn't too much "clutter." No moreso than the "Victoria Daz" interview or the post to tell us who won the world series, neither of which assist me in any way to make better Poser imagery. I'm sure Jeff's taken off for a bit, though, so do please pass these thoughts on to whoever up there decides what gets cut and what stays. It's a bit ludicrous, and generally makes you guys look far worse than it makes the "offender." I may not be a PR champion, but I figure if you folks are going to be biased, you should at least practice for a while at some basic customer service first. Paul

Lapis, I wouldn't wail to hard on Spike. He's only doing what he was requested to do, which implies that the decision was made, and Spike's got to enforce it, regardless of whether he likes it or not. He doesn't have any moderating powers in the Poser forum. That's not to say that Spike hasn't practiced his own charming brand of biased enforcement of the rules, only that this once, he's not to blame. Paul

Also, I find it rather strange that a mod can get away with refering to patrons of this site as "moron factor", yet a person who made a public apology is now banned because he wanted to make sure that people actually saw the post. "Well thank's Paul, As a matter of fact, I do have full power in all the forums, All Admin do. If you look at the team contact page, note the names listed under admin, we all have the same power." I was referring to the fact that you generally aren't going to override another admin's decision Spike. AFAIK, once Jeff decided the course of action on this, you're generally going to defer to his judgement. I know exactly what you have the ability to do, and not to do, Spike, and was trying to let Lapis know that if it was going to get resolved, you weren't one of the "bad guys." Coincidentally, I don't really care if this one post got moved to the FN&TC forum, but if you're going to pull the switcheroo with one off topic post, then you should damn well be doing it to all of them. There's a post in the Poser forum from a while back where Steve Cooper asked people to send his son stamps. That doesn't have shit to do with Poser, but it stayed. I'm not saying I dislike Steve ( or his son Cooper ), quite the opposite. I do dislike the bias involved in enforcement of the TOS, even though I feel I have, at times, benefitted from it. If Renderosity is a business, then its employees need to start being business-like, which implies unbiased unilateral enforcement of policy. Insofar as your special bias, Spike, I've seen you come down fairly more often than not, and I'm not going to dredge up months of forum history, as that wouldn't be terribly constructive. I will say that after one particular event, I will trust you to review this decision moreso than I would trust any other member of the administrative team. Paul

I think that with any amount of research whatsoever you'll find that on a given day I'm as likely to tear into Mehndi and Russ as I am to tear into DAZ, Rosity, or anyone else who mistreats their membership. Now, Pete, we've had discussions about you losing your temper, and they generally build until you blow, and then within a week you're apologizing. So, once again I'm asking you to go drink a beer, smoke some pot, whatever, so that you get your perspective back, man. There's no need for you to get yourself banned over someone making a snide remark, even if you do take it to heart. Makes you wonder then how some staff can get off being so cocky when they actually DO get paid??....I mean...ScottA makes a BIG point about how LITTLE the pay is....you know what ScottA??....the fact that there is even a "little pay" is way better than NO PAY AT ALL....this job is/can be fun...I think any job where you help folks and organize stuff and maintain stuff and fix stuff and especially when your making stuff grow and develope and watching it all go from a seed to a nice awsome healthy tree, that is also...an AWSOME feeling....ask Jack....ask Diane...heck...ask Clint....he still works here....ask Jeff...um...well, maybe not...most of them feel the same way...now...they get paid...maybe very little according to ScottA but heck...it's pay...it is something worth more than nothing for something...and believe me the rewards for working on forums come in more ways than "just money" so don't cry the blue's too hard... ...um....getting back to JeffH...you know...in many ways your not really being fair to the guy making all these threads against him...Jeff has stuck it our with Renderosity since the time of Willow all the ways through and through think...and thin...he IS an icon of Renderosity, and important part of the place...Jeff CAN get very tired like anyone else, he has his bad days like anyone else, he has days where he may just not wanna deal with the HairBall's of forums but he has a certain schedule to adhere too...and then...having been here such a loooong time...and knowing how Jeff is...perhaps he does ask himself at times..."why am I here?"....and then..."we", the members...are on his case...yeah...whther he might be just a slight cocky at times...you have to wonder if maybe we might be a slight more understanding and 'thankful' for all his past contributions of knowledge he HAS nourished to this place through helping members and toiling along, (you people have no idea what goes on behind the scenes and the work Jeff has to do that folks do not see),...you have to wonder if Jeff might be a whole lot nicer if he saw some gratitide rather than so much dissention.... I am just looking at both sides of the coin...you have to also realize...Jeff does have a life too...sometimes he might want to be with that life more but still feel's obligated to be here... I can understand that too... Perhaps we as members....can be too critical at times...the staff here DO check on each other and what's going on...like everything, to be done properly and fair...it all takes time....it does. no actually pete it's a crap nick that I've somehow got stuck with wherever I go now, anyway I think the mods/admins do a really great job trying to keep everything in order, I remember from my days on IRC before I was a mod the times when they weren't on & the chaos it rapidly became till they showed up to kick off the troublemakers. No I'm not trying to butter them up or get into their good books :)

....but hey....why not....then all the members that do complian can imagine the staff with butter all over them....might make em feel better...imagine the slippery party they might have all buttery, dang...that's way better than mud wrastling!! ;-) As for their good books....well...if someone ever writes a best seller on the history of the poser forum and the impact it all had on 3D and its' prosperity/poplularity...you might just want to get in those good books...you are a part of the seed that grew ;-) Do you get what I mean here??...always read between the lines when I yammer on.... No...if you said suck up to them....blech....I would say that don't even do ya good anyways because the staff on these boards are not stupid, they do have their jobs for a reason and it is not a deprived mind...they can see right through a suck up and/or any kind of shoe polishing/foot massage....or kissing the...whatever....(I hate that last term...so disgustingly grosse...).... A toast to the "good books"...CHEERS! ;-)
