Is it just me, or must one post nudes or otherwise sexy scantily clad women to get any responses or viewings from people in the poser art gallery?

What did you post and when? Thumbnails are important.. something interesting has to get peoples' attention enough to make them look at yours.. many of us are on slow connections, so we must pick and choose only a few pics in the gallery to look at. Also, sometimes it takes a while for people to see or comment on your work. Personally, I don't know. I rarely post anything to the poser gallery, and I never post nude or scantily clad women (though I did do a guy in a chainmail bikini. I thought it was funny...). =) Rosh

I pretty much look at all the gallery postings that I can squeeze in. and never look at posts soley because they contain nudity, rather, I pick genres that I like or I'll go by the title as I do with alot of Rosh's stuff What's in a thumb? I have noticed an increase in the posting of nudes during certain times of the month, It must be the waxing and wanning moon......:)

Just did a search for your stuff, Hardbird.. found it rather amusing that your "Bobbie's New Look" pic (where she's in lingerie, apparently) got something like 200+ visits, while your other two Bobbie pics only got like 35 or 42.. guess your theory's right on that point. Mind you, I remember passing these up, not because your thumbs were bad, merely because I saw from your thumbs that I wouldn't be interested.. I usually don't look at character posts in the gallery, mostly due to time and connection speed restraints.. Not even the nude or semi-nude ones. Of course, if you'd left out the thumbnails, I probably wouldn't have looked at it either. I do like your Rogue pics, though, and remember looking at those. =) Rosh

Thanks for the responses everyone.....This is not a rant..I think the old addage "Sex Sells" is universal, even in Poser. I try to keep my images simple...like studio photo shoots...maybe that is why I notice less hits on posts such as these (even ones that are not mine)for maybe more detail is the key...something more to catch the eye. I hope the reason for less hits is not because Bobbie is black...I would be very disappointed if prejudice crossed into the cyber world. Personally I find black women very sexy. I see lots of great work in the galleries....all of you spend a lot of time and effort just as I do making posettes and whatever the men are called...I love what you people do and I love looking at your end results. It is amazing how realistic these "people" can look. Poser is fun to play with. I am posting another pic of Bobbie to test my therory of "sex sells" and see what happens hit wise. If this is the case, I will give the people what they want. Of course all of the above is just my opinion, and I could be wrong.

'Bobbie' is too cool for lots of folks. ;) As for Poser and racial background, just as an art issue, a dark complexion doesn't always render true, or show shadows like a lighter complexion will. I'll post my 'Nubian Guard' whose complexion was lightened (he's still black!) so musculature etc. will show up better. Oh, the standard chick is 'Posette' and the guy is 'Poser-Dork' for obvious reasons... I feel for ya, all of you guys with 56K connections. I have a cable modem, and couldn't bear ever going back to dial-up. And that also means I have no excuse for not checking every pic posted to the galleries. I try to view almost every Poser-gallery post, and some Bryce, but since I don't have the other apps I only check those out if the thumbnail really grabs me. And yeah, a well-posed nude grabs me! ;) OK, so I'm a guy! But landscapes (done mostly in Bryce) also do it for me. I'm a big fan of well-lit scenes (not 'bright', well-lit!) since lighting can really affect the entire mood/feeling of a pic. Show me some exotic textures and shadows, and you've got my eyeballs. Throw in some carefully exposed skin, and you now have another anatomical part! ;) Unabashedly hetero, MadRed
