Hi gang, I ran the updater a few days ago and since then Carrara seems to freeze up on me A LOT. I was goign to just reinstall my original Carrara 2.0, but before that I figured I would ask if anyone else has had any problems. One of the times it always freezes up is if I do a quick render inside the assembly room and have a 3d aura on. Also if I abort a final render in the rendering room I get stuck in that room. I can bring down menus and such but nothing actually works and I cant get out. Let me know if any of you have had similar (or not so similar for that matter, difficulties since using the updater. Cheers, Max

Did you do a fresh re-instal before installing the updater? That's what Eovia strongly recommended, and it may be what is affecting you.

Actually... (looks down sheepishly...) I haven't done the install at all yet! I've been traveling for work, and haven't had a chance to do the uninstall-reinstall thing. But, I remember seeing the procedure mentioned on the web site when I did the download, and thought it might help. Many a time I have upgraded some software, only to find I forgot a step, and now the software dosen't work/serial number is invalid/hard drive is damaged/ the sun is no longer shining/ time has come to a stop/and other nasty things. ;> Hopefully this weekend, I'll have a chance to do my upgrade, but I'll be checking back here first to see if you've had any more luck! Good luck!!

I got lazy and applied the patch on my old C copy and it seemed to work until I tried to save a rendering and no dialog box would come up. The Fresh Install trick worked and fixed the problem. So I, like Eovia recommend to do the fresh install thing.

I did a "dirty" install over the previous updater and have not yet seen any problems. Windows version.

On the Mac side, OS 10, a clean install is a must. Didn't do the clean install the first time around and had a bunch of issues. After a clean install, everything works well now though. Mark

Hi Max, have you emailed our support (support@eovia.com) ? I haven't heard of anyone complaining of problems with the 2.1 update so far. If you have any particular problem, please report them to us so that we can fix them ! What platform are you on ? Mac ? Windows ? Have you been able to reproduce those problems ? Or was it just random crashes ? Charles Brissart Eovia, Corp.
