I've modeled this head in Amapi 5.15. It's my first 'realistic' head ever. I used the tutorial from 3DWorld issue 3. Now I only need to make the ears and the back of the head. And than maybe some hair and some nice textures. Does anyone know some good 'How to model a realistic ear' tutorials?

And does anyone know how to unwrap a model to a cylindrical texture template?

Don't know anything about Amapi, but I think the head is stunning. Can't wait to see it when you find out how to make ears. Well done rayraz. :) Catlin

I bow to your head modeling. I'm not really up on UVMapping, I would assume you could use UVMapper for this. Great Job! AgentSmith

Found it..LOL I don't know anything about this part of 3-d, but it looks really good to me.

UVmapper will do that. There's a tut either at the site or linked from the site.

Great work Rayraz! Well as I was also working on a WIP head thought I might post it here! No Amapi here! :-( Plain Booleans, but mostly a collection of spheres!

Thanx bikermouse. I've downloaded the tutorial and I'll have a look at it as soon as I've got time.

Rayraz, I think the texture as is is pretty cool and the whole thing is quite neat. Good luck with the ears. Lin

Ray, I had a chance to look the head tuts over last night as I was curious too - there is an older head tutorial at the bottom of the page which seems to go into more detail. It may be the one you want to look at first, but I didn't see a .PDF for the latter one. It seems to me that I saw a head tutorial that was much better somewhere on the net, but I couldn't find a working link. I guess I'll take a page from MAZ' book and keep googling until I find something good. Speaking of MAZ, you all ought to look in the Poser Forum keyword MAZ in October or September. There is a thread there which tells you how to export .GMAX files from GMAX as .OBJ (wavefront) format using a script. It might be handy for all you modelers out there. cheers, - TJ

Thanx. I'll try to find the GMAX to OBJ tutorial/thread.
