I'm having trouble importing sweep paths into C version 1.1. I'm following the instructions on page 161 in the reference guide, but when I click "open" (step 4) no dialog asking whether I want a sweep path or envelope comes up. Nothing apparent happens at all. The steps I take are: 1)Draw circular cross section in spline modeler. 2)Center selection. 3)Set ext. envelope to symmetrical. 4)Click on Y axis drawing plane. 5)File>Import> select an eps file that has only a 90 deg line with a small radius. (I created the file in Freehand and have also tried saving it as an Illustrator file). 6)Click open. The import dialog goes away, but nothing else apparent happens. I'm trying to create a pipeline with clean 90 degree elbows. Am I missing something here?

I followd your steps exactly and it worked. (I am using C2.1 though) I did get a dialogue asking me if I wanted sweep or envelope. I used an illustrator file. Try using an illustrator file and when you save it, make sure you save it as a low version number (I chose 4.0). Carrara will not recognize files from higher versions (7, 8, 9, 10). I'm not sure if this is your problem but give it a try. If all else fails, do it in Carrara. A 90 degree line should not be that hard to draw in Carrara. Why knock yourself unecessarily importing things that dont have to be imported in the first place? Also, if you're trying to create a pipeline, make sure you set the extrusion method to "pipeline". You hadn't mentioned that you did that in your steps.

:o) Saving as AI (3.0-4.0) type works perfectly! I've tried making these in C but never could get it right. Thanks for taking the time to reply, this really helped me out. Guy

Actually I've had success with Illustrator files up to version 7. memaci

"This path can not be imported because it needs to have at least two vertices" Is the error message I get, so I am not able to import. As far as I can tell, the path does. What gives?
