Ok Srry for making you all reading this post, but I'm a read newb in this all! I've been trying to make a nice Signature image (medieval style) for a friend in Poser 5, so i downloaded some free swords here. Now's my problem: Do I have to put everything in correct position myself and can I only then Parent it? Or when I import a prop can it find it's own way around? Sorry for the dumb post, this is but one of the things im having trouble with though :P. Hope I'll eventually figure it out!

you need to put the sword in the hand and give it a good position. Then you can parenting it with the hand. Each time you will move the hand, the sword will follow. Laurent

It depends on whether it's a smart prop or not. I don't know which swords you've downloaded. If they're not smart props, then you'll have to place them manually into the figure's hands. If they're smart props, then they're already parented to a hand, but you'll have to adjust the poslition of the hand to hold the sword. If it's not a smart prop, then you can make it one by getting it into position for your character, then parent it to the figure's hand. After you've done that, then resave the sword to the library and it will ask you if you want to make it a smart prop. Click on Yes, and the next time you use it, it should automatically go to the figure's hand. Hope that helps. Melanie

Some Poser-ready props are "smart props," meaning they come already parented--all you have to do is select the figure you want to parent them to, click on the prop, and it goes right to the figure's hand, head, or whatever. When downloading freebies, you might try looking for "smart props."

:) Thanks everyone for the fast replies, I think I'll test some swords out and make em smart myself then :). Thanks again!
