Today someone posted a comment on a piece of mine disagreeing on my definition of a family. To be honest, I'm not sure how to take it. It wasn't a comment on the art itself (admittedly not one of my better or more original pieces), but on the subject matter. At first I was angry and defensive, but after a moment I started thinking about it. I know that my subject is controversial to some, but certainly in no way dirty or violent or even erotic. I accept all comments, and try to use them to improve my work, but this one struck a nerve.Has anyone else ever had a comment on the subject matter of a piece. How do you respond? Should I just grin and bear it?
Here's the link. Comments are always welcome.
Thanks!
Jim
