I ordered the 'Falcon' character from the MP and when it came time to download the fil all I got was a file called 'securedownload.ez'. I dont know what this is and Windows doesnt recognize the file either. All I know is that I do not have the file that I paid for. This really ticks me off. Money dight now is tight for me and when I finaly get to download something this type of crap occures. So, now I am down $6.00 and nothing to show for it. I dont even have a download button for the Item on my account page. If any of you have had this problem please tell me about it soon.

thats intresting, sounds like your browser grabbed the page instead of the file, your not using a download manager are you? you might wanna by-pass it if you are.

I dont know how to bypass it.

caleb68 posted Tue, 12 November 2002 at 11:43 PM

if its go!zilla, hold down the ALT key when you click the button

No. Its MSN version 8. I am so new to this stuff. I cant download it now anyway. The download button is gone. This is such bullshit. I dont know who is responsible for this. All I know is this should be a trouble free process. This is the last online order I will ever make, anywhere!

well its not the sites fault on this one, i've seen this happen on alot of other sites as well with free downloads, its the way your browser handles the redirect url. You most commonly see this happen with Download Managers like Go!Zilla and GetRight. to get your File reset email store@renderosity.com and they'll reset it for you so you can try to download it again. here is a question for you, when it downloads the 'securedownload.ez' does it match the size of the file? if so renaming the file to something like 'newfile.zip' may allow you to access the file ;) i know thats worked in the past for me when i was still using go!zilla.

No. The file is only 4kb in size.

Thanks Caleb68. I thought I was going to have to wait untill tomorrow for some help. The one time that ClintH is not online, this would happen to me. I have already fired off an e-mail and an IM to the R'osity MP and a nice flame-mail to MSN. there is no way to disable the download manager in MSN 8.0 and the setting controls suck! God, I hate this crap!

I set my mom up on MSN, im glad i desided to opt out there MSN-8 program frontend. Hey I was informed that you can use the IE Explorer after you get logged in threw the MSN-8 software, have you tried downloading from that rather then the MSN-8 program? Local guy here at one of our computer stores informed me about that. I don't know if that would help you by-pass there filedownload manager. Thats one main reason I quit using download managers, they were nice for one thing, getting files from sites that took forever to download on 56k, but when it came to issues like this it really screwed things up :( if it was one of my products i'd just set it up on my server so you could download it quick like. You might try contacting the Merchant and asking them if they could do that for you. I'd really hate to see you stop buying stuff because of this bad experience. I know if Clint was online he'd be trying to get you a workable solution quickly.

As a side note and maybe something you (Clint) might want to keep on file for future reference, I've had the same thing happen in the past and found that the file itself is the right one, it's just been given that "ez" name. If I rename it to xxxxx.zip, everything is fine. This is using Netscape 6 & 7.
