Can someone please point me in the direction of a good tutorial for doing trees in Bryce? I have looked at the one on Brycetech and it had some good pointers but I need something a little more detailed. I can make then but they just don't get me the realistic feel I am after...nor am I having much luck getting them the right shape. I just wind up going with what it gives me.
Additionally if anyone knows of any good, free, textures for trees around...I'd be much obliged.

www.animax.it has free, good quality pics for the bark and the pics for 2D-planes-trees. The attached link will give you oodles of links to Bryce tree tutorials. From Bill Munn (pagoda with cedar in the background on Bryce 5 content CD) through Calyxa and Mojotech to Kromekat and many, many other folks.

Alt-click on the create tree icon and it'll give you a load menu for preset trees. Use those as a start. Most are fairly decent just as they are. Otherwise I'd say just play with the lab using Brycetech as to what setting does what. I haven't found any tutorials on "do this to get this type of tree" except do a search on the forum for willow tree and you'll find some settings for that.

The alt-click method sounds like it might be good to get the right start...if only I could get it to work. Alt-click only creates a tree for me...as does Alt-right click, shift-click, ctrl-click...

Are you patched to the latest version? It was added in the patch.

This one of mine may help!? - and trust me, there are a lot of great tree bark textures out there, you just need to use image based ones over procedurals! :)
