Lacrimal Gland means Tear Duct. I just thought about it and there were two or three months I didn't know, before I looked it up, so I reckoned someone out there might find benefit in this information. As to why they didn't just call it 'tear duct' -- that's as mysterious as why they used different material names on everybody.

Lacrimal, Lachrymal, or Lacrymal (adj) - of or relating to tears or to the glands which secrete tears. (C16 from Medieval Latin lachrymalis, from Latin lacrima, a tear).

And for what it's worth, "lachrymae" is "tears" in Latin. (Spellings vary.) Y'all know what the "Nictating membrane" on the Millennium Dragon is, right? ;-)

And don't forget- the lacrimal glands are located on the head map on Vicky, Mike, and Stephanie. The P4 characters do not have lacrimal glands (well, they might, but not as a separate part of the texture map). I haven't checked the P5 characters, but I'm guessing that they are similar to Vicky & Mike. You answered what the lacrimal glands are... only to send people looking for where they are. :-) And "nictitating membranes" are a fancy way of saying "eye lids". :) And the "philtrum" is the ridge above the upper lip and below the nose.

'And "nictitating membranes" are a fancy way of saying "eye lids"' Not exactly. A nictating membrane is a part or the eye on a reptile and some birds and amphibians. There are a few mammals with them, too, if I'm not mistaken, but very few. It's an eyelid, yes, but not a proper one as we think of them. Instead, it's clear so the animal can see through it, but it's protective against things like sand and water, allowing the animal to see, if not as well, under adverse envrinmental conditions. Most animals with nictating membranes also have eyelids, a notable exception being about half the geckoes.

Almost forgot -- and where eyelids usually flip up and down, nictating membranes usually flip side-side.
