This is my first attempt at a model, Cloud city from the empire strikes back. I modelled it in amapi, Textured and rendered it in carrara 2.1. still have to add the little buildings on top and the weather veins on the bottom. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

I like the lit windows, nicely done. Is that a a glow set on seperate modeling, a boolean through the model with a light inside, or something else? As for sugestions, it needs what you said, plus clouds around it in the final image.

Looks good. I would also add a teensy bit of turbulence in the orange and I really mean a teensy bit. Looks cool. What references did you use? -Kixcooldude.gif

Thanks for the tips The glow was a texture map applied to the glow channel The references for cloud city are sparse I used SW essential guide to vehicles & vessels, for dimensions it has a "blueprint" for cloud city by Doug Chiang. Texturing was harder I used the Star Wars chronicles and The SW Archives. Unfortunatley in empire cloud city was a matte painting and in the 1997 release it was digitally replaced so there are not many if any photos of an actual model

That reference is a decent one. Star Wars references are very tough to find and especially when you're looking for consistency. -Kixsupercool.gif
