It would be cool to have an animated texture that changed from the lower image to the upper one. It would look like he was cooling off (and hardening perhaps?)!

Just from this angle, I'd say that the mirroring on the face might be distracting from the overall effect. But it's hard to say from a 3/4 view. Neat concept though :)

top one kinda reminds me of the Nameless one from Planescape Torment. ~DM

They look cool, but I agree with Lyrra: The mirroring is too visible. As I remember the full body shots there was also mirroring there. But that might have been changed?

Yeah, the mirroring -- especially on the red one just looks like you overlayed a fractal. really distracts. Emily

Hmmm.....actually the mirroring on the head was done to make it look like he had some manour of crest design on his forhead (and to outline his nose, because it got lost in the pattern) the rest is not so mirrored. Here is another picture, please be honest, if it is distracting still, I will change it.

I would say keep the nose outlining, and maybe a bit of the forehead "crest", but I would suggest changing the rest of the face so the mirroring isn't as evident... Other than that, awesome work!
