I guess I checked into Daz about 5 minutes too soon! I'll have to peek in later and see how I'm going to spend next year's paychecks. (Before I even get the paychecks, that is.) Good thing I just got a DVD burner.

Hey Steve-- I assume the higher-end animals (polar bear, walrus, octopus) are brokered items, and wouldn't qualify for the plat club 30% discount--is that right?
Lindsey posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 7:11 PM
I have the Platinum account and those three animals (Polar Bear, Walrus, octopus) plus most of the other animals are all displaying 50% off of the normal price which would be the normal price, less 30% Platinum account discount - 30% storewide sale. Example Walrus regular 34.95 - 30% platinum discount 10.84 = 24.47, less 30% storewide sale 7.35 = 17.12 final price.
milamber42 posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 7:11 PM
At first, I thought Platinum customers would get a total of 60% off, but that is not how it is calculated. The "extra 30% off" for Platinum customers is 30% off of the discounted price, not off the original price. The total discount for Platinum customers is about 49% off the original price.
Just an fyi....

Wow! And I just bought 3D Wizard's Treadz boots before this was announced. I don't begrudge it, though. They are AMAZING boots. Well worth buying, for sure.

Steve,
Just want to let you know that I do appreciate the discount, and I'm going to be spending a boatload of money come pay day. I just thought I would let people know what I saw, but Lindsey posted first :)
And the mods can move the thread if they want to. :)

Here's a problem - I wanted to buy the new Euro sports car, which according to the message above should have 30% discount, plus a further 30% because of my Platinum Club membership. Which should come to approximately $12.23. However, when I click to buy it, it shows in the basket at $24.95 - $4.99. So, where and when is the discount applied? I am absolutely not going to buy anything unless it's certain that the discount is there at the time of purchase.

I'm so glad someone pointed out that #12 is fake. I probably would have figured it out, but reading it first made my heart spasm. I'd hate to think of DAZ being like that. Off to check out the sale...
dialyn posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 9:05 PM
The discount should show up below the list of items you've bought. At least it did for me: Platinum Club Discount: 30% Off DAZ Created Products 1 $-23.97 n/a $-23.97 Customer Appreciation Storewide Sale 30% OFF (expires 12/02/02) 1 $-24.26 n/a $-24.26
11.19.02.Favorites.20 (expires 11/19/02) 1 $-3.49 n/a $-3.49 Grand total: $53.08 So I'm figuring all in all, with all the discounts, I saved over half of what the items would have cost me. Okay, I could have saved over fifty dollars by not shopping but that would have been no fun at all.
Dave-So posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 9:09 PM
The rules state that the new releases do not qualify dfor the 30% discount...

Its pretty complicated. :) I've been trying different items... Brokered items are just 30% off...no Plat. Club discount...Platinum discount only applies to DAZ produced items. The new releases do not qualify for the 30% appreciation sale. DAZ items get 30% off...then 30% off the remainder...in essence, it is a 49% discount..not 60%..as someone else stated above. UNless, it appears, if the stuff is already discounted, as in DAZ favorites..there, for instance, , the goriall mappack is 20%off...you then get another 30% for the Platinum Discount...not 20%/30%/30%...or even 30/30 for that matter. You have ot watch real closely...I appreciate the sale, but I think it would be easier if they just did a straight 30/30 across the board.

I quit buying pretty much everything on forst release anymore...except P5...anyway.... Books dump out in a couple of months form $25 to 5.99 game software goes from $49 to $9.99 bargain bin in less than a year. Electronic equipment changes so fast, the closeouts are near giveaways. Now 3d models for Poser...I was buying stuff on first release, especially at DAZ, with the sometimes very large release discount...but now, I may have to think about it.
