Hi. Little did I know how much work it was going to be....
Having a deadline helps for shure!
Any way, the movie got shown on a big screen. It is done entirely in Bryce with the sole exception of a skull from 3DLink and the end logo modeled in Carrara.
Posted in FinalCut.
All textures on buildings are from the actuall buildings in my home town Uppsala, Sweden via my HandyCam and PhotoShop.

Outtakes (pictures 1-8) straight from the Bryce rendering:

Enjoy my very first effort in Bryce!

Very cool! I like the lighting. Bryce animation is fun once you feel comfortable with it.

I saw that it said it was for an Upsala film festival. As in Upsala, NY?

I get a blank page.

Rayraz posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 2:59 AM

Blank image, but still with sound? or without sound? In case you hear the sound you probably need to download the right codec for the compression of the animation. If you don't hear sound, then the mov is probably still downloading.

Cool, bryce is a great animation tool Yeah get into animation; even if your only doing a flythru of a scene you've created the results can be mind blowing!!! and with a will and a few tutorials you can be making broadcast quality movies in the comfort of your own home ;-}

Brilliant work tcastudios.

Broadcast quatility is possible, but it renders far to slow.

Hi. First of all , many thanks to all of you!

Now regarding "broadcast rendering". What ever you do when rendering a Brycemovie - ALLWAYS- render with no compression! (Setting "None"). I had a hard learnt lesson trying to render with compression thinking it would save time. It did NOT! AFAIK the rendering is the same(timewise) -but- the compression selected just leave you with a smaller but f**cked up animation with artifacts. So, make any compression in post and have your movie at fullest quality for further color adjustments etc.
Even the highest setting in the "Animation" compression make things like clouds blocky. It is very visible when things are moving.
There is so much information taken away in the DVD version and the only way to make color adjustments correctly is to have the full bitdepth avaible to start with.

I found the compression thing out the hard way too. I rendered for 8 days on a disco scene with a dancing alien and then the compression f*cked up the looks of the animation. Serious and horrible artifacts had infected my animation and there was no time to render it a second time, because the deadline was to short. Wich program do you use for video-editing? I use Unlead media studio 5, but it is incredibly unstable. I've got to restart at least 10 times before I've got a clip of one minute right. It just crashes all the time. And without warning too.
