AND, the trial version is no longer available...I think B6 is coming!

There have been enough hints dropped about it lately. I suspect we're gonna see someting before long.

On second thought...there has been no activity among beta testers, so that's not a good sign. Maybe corel plans to sell?
Rayraz posted Wed, 20 November 2002 at 2:47 AM
Many large packages have dropped prices maybe Corel just didn't want to leave behind. I'm still a little sceptic about a quick release of Bryce 6/PRO, because, as Madmax said, there isn't any Beta-testing at the moment and that means that there probably hasn't been any too. And releasing an intested product is very risky. But let's hope that bryce comming.

I've still got some money put aside for when it comes out, but if Corel doesn't hurry I'm going to buy a new monitor instead, or a new printer.

I swear I saw a guy furtively leaving pc world desperately clutching onto the a bag through which I could only discern the letters: BR--E 6. he was muttering something like "it is myyyyy prrrrreeesshhhhuuusss" all the while looking around manically as if he believed no-one could see him but that he was very clever for "managinging" to keep the lid on the secret. Anyway to cut a long story short I lost him at a set of traffic lights after following him for half an hour soI never got to find out what he was hiding but do you think just maybe.....?

imanwillie, I'll bet he headed for the sewer drain system.

I hope they spend the time to beta test, don't want a buggy app like Poser 5. One bug is so bad it locks up the computer and you can't exit the program until you pull the plug. If they rush it out of the door and its buggy, we will be howling about it.

Yeah, but what if Corel screwed it up? What if they changed the interface on us? What if they made no improvement to soft lighting? What if they made no improvement to the sorry looking vegetation? What if they made no improvement to modeling options? What if they made the rendering speed slower? .........worried concerned nervous more worried

Then it wouldn't be called Bryce PRO and we'd all stick to Bryce 5 and Corel get's pushed out of the market :)

It's weird that the full version has gone down to 90, when AFAIK Bryce 6 is still in development. Perhaps they'll skip beta testing, like I frequently do, and deliver a vile untested mess to their customers just for a giggle.
Rayraz posted Thu, 21 November 2002 at 2:37 AM
Maybe they'll throw in a free intelli-bug that adapts to debug-patches. :)

Don't know if B6 is coming or not, but for awhile Amazon had B5 (full version)for $172.00, with free shipping. If B6 does happen soon, I hope they improve the rendering engine and allow for "clean" uploads of Poser figures. Actually, I'm surprised someone here hasn't created an app to allow that.
catlin_mc posted Thu, 21 November 2002 at 1:12 PM
I've had nothing but problems importing from Poser, I got the Grouper but that hasn't helped much. So I would vote for a smoother interface between the two programs and as everyone else wishes, a faster render engine.
BillyM67 posted Thu, 21 November 2002 at 2:23 PM
The only real problems I've had bringing people into Bryce from Poser is there eyelashes. They get thick. Everything else, textures, clothes, props, have stayed where they should be. But, then again, I've only been using Poser for about two weeks. :)
catlin_mc posted Thu, 21 November 2002 at 4:54 PM
To BillyM67, Could you please let me know what you do to move from Poser to Bryce. I've been given loads of tips in here but when I try them out I still don't get textures or hair. BTW, my eyelashes always come out like thickly drawn lines too. I have only been using Poser for a couple of weeks and maybe I'm just not paying enough attention to what I'm being told but any help you can give will be very much appreciated. Thanks Catlin
tjohn posted Fri, 22 November 2002 at 5:42 AM
Catlin: Are you using transparency maps applied to the lashes and hair with Blend Transparency selected in the same pull down menu as the Shadow settings? This will make it all work correctly.

BTW, I think some of us should take another look at clay's comment in this thread. I believe he's a tester for Bryce and is giving us a hint that Bryce 6 is still a ways off. The lowered prices are happening at the same time that many businesses are lowering prices for the Christmas buying period, for example, Nintendo's GameCube is dropping $50 off the unit's cost, I believe. It may just be to spur sales, and increase profits through higher volumes. Or maybe I'm wrong. Yay! Bryce 6! Go Brycers! Go Brycers! :^)
