Hi, I sat through the first hour of marketing blurb of the GeForce FX product lauch just to watch the "Dawn" demo, because having seen still pictures of the model, I had to see her moving. It really is fairly impressive, at least to a point. That point being when I found out that they went to Square Studios, (the makers of the Final Fantasy movie) and got them to build her instead. Which is no small feat really. you've essentially got Aki Ross' Fae cousin wandering around in realtime on an (admitedly high-end) consumer Gfx card. Retail cards won't be out for at least four months, and like the competition (the ATI Radeon 9700pro) it'll take two years for games to advance to a point where they can make full use of the capabilities of the hardware. It's a fairly kick ass demo, but then given that it's only marginally better than the competition, and it's not going to be here for Christmas, I suppose it had to be :) I've scoured the web to find a copy of the movie, it's a bit grainy as it was taken from a camcorder, but it should give you a flavour of what the latest hardware is capable of doing. Even if the software we're going to run on it comes out of the ark... :) The same video shown as part of the launch movie is a little darker and a bit better, IMO, but you need to watch it all as it's a streaming download. www.nvidia.com if you want more. Jusk right click on the mpeg link on the page, (or watch it) one you've opened the link.
