I posted this in the 3D Apps forum, but since that's rather dead, I'll post it here too: Hey all, if anyone's interested, 3D World and Computer Arts will both be giving away Truespace 3 on their coverdiscs. Those issues aren't up on their sites quite yet, but it was in their newsletter, so if you're interested, keep watching their sites. BTW, I think the 3D World comes out first (and it's a much better mag anyway IMO). http://www.3dworldmag.com http://www.computerarts.co.uk

I live in a small town that doesn't get those mags. Nearest place is two hour drive. Bummer.

yeah, eric, me too....would have to go up to fort lauderdale to get it. oh, well, i have my rhino, and, i love it, albeit the renderer is craptaceous in the first degree.

the only place I could find either mag was about half an hour away, but they're always sold out. So I got a sub to 3d World and now it comes to me :D

You can order them from the sites once they get them posted if you're really interested. It costs a few bucks more, but only a few. In fact, if you order as soon as they're up, you'll most likely get your copy long before stores like Barnes and Noble do. I'm not sure exactly what TS3 can do, but I do know that Caligari was still selling it for $99 bucks before TS6 came out not too long ago, so this is definitely something worth looking into. If I'm not mistaken, PhilC uses TS2!

I have a box version of TS2 if someone wants it for $5 + postage.... As far as 3D World....and all UK maga..they come way later than their release, over a month behind...sometimes 2 issues back...at least here in cheeseland.

Truespace 3 isn't bad at all. it lacks bones, but does have IK. (although rather lame) TS3 was the first TS version to have a plugin support, and you can still get many great free and cheap ts3 compatible plugins. (I highly reccomend Thermoclay, or really anything by Alain Bellon.) I still use TS 4.3 and as a modeller TS 3 is just about as good.

I have a subscription to 3D World Mag. Every 2 or 3 month they have a useful older version of some software on the CD and the magazine itself is really good and informative. I can highly recommend it.

X2000, this was very thoughtful of you. Thanks a lot for the heads up. I was just thinking this morning that I wanted to ask for PhilC's tutorial disk for Christmas. Now this is a huge bonus I had not counted on. Thanks for the heads up! Kimberly
