Attached Link: Aeryn II
"Aeryn II: In the Caverns of Sorrow" Second in the series (really 4th, but you've only seen one other). I really am getting attached to this character. I seem to be in a "dark" mood these past few pics. Again, hope you can see it the way it looks on my screen (dark, but not so dark the characters are lost (should be able to see the hairs on the body of the creature) and not so light that it looks washed out). Hope you like it. Hmm. It's... blue... Seriously, nice, moody image. I can't see much of the background though; is it supposed to be really dark, or do I need to tweak my monitor settings?

Charlie: You probably need to tweak your monitor settings. Man, we have got to come up with a way to calibrate the monitors or something. I usually run Photoshop's setting wizard to cal my monitor/gamma settings before I do an image. The image is dark (it's in a mostly enclosed cavern - there's actually a crack/hole in the ceiling that light is coming in), but it shouldn't be "really dark". It should be light enough so that you are be able to see the rock walls of the cavern (including the some of the small pitting in the rocks surface), the water and the creature. If all you can see of it are the red glowing eyes then it's way too dark. -=>Donald

OK; I had to copy it and brighten it in PSP6 to see the detail, but the creature is there - though it looked kind of like a sketch render after lightening!

Blah..you shouldn't need to do that...as they say, the customers always right..well, that doesn't completely apply here, but... :) I've lightened the picture a bit and I'll send it up in the next post. Sorry about all the problems Charlie..let me know if the other one is better for you. -=>Donald

The other version looks OK. Nice work. Oh, and the "copying the image into PSP6" trick is something I've been doing ... well, since I owned PSP6 (before that, of course, I copied into PSP5... :)). I'm used to seeing images too dark or too light on my screen, and I thank whatever gods are watching that I don't have to use my wife's monitor...
