Subject: I need advice on this WIP please

Here is my latest. I've done it to show my new ships. The terrain is a city tile by Pete Hill. I've still got to scale down the cloud plane and maybe add a few speeders between the buildings (very small ones, maybe done as 2D objects). But the thing is I'm stuck with the ships' name. I've already created a Manta, and this one looks like a ray, but what should I call it? Any ideas? I'll post the finished work in the gallery. Josselin

Very nice work - with very clean flowing lines to these... Maybe "the bright arrows" or "the lance" or "the dart" or how about "VSNF-2002" (for Very Sleek N Fast...) Not good with names myself... but me thinks you will come up with just the appropiate and perfect one. Like these. best, hewsan

Thanks for your suggestions, but they sound a bit aggressive to me. I woke up this morning with the right name: EagleRays. I don't know if the word exists in English, but it does in French (raie aigle). The Eagle part gives majesty while the Ray part is derived from its shape. Now: Eagle Ray, EagleRay or Eagle-Ray? Just kidding :-) Many thanks again. Josselin

Stick with the French version, it sounds very elegant. Lin

It may sound very elegant for English-speaking people, but it doesn't really in for French people. What I'll do is: for English-speaking people it will will be Raie Aigle, and for French-speaking people it will be EagleRay. How about that? Josselin

Josselin, That sounds like a good trade off. I did some digging in my dictionary to see if the latin roots looked interesting (they don't), but the old Middle English spelling is Egle Raye if you want to go for somthing different. Lin
