Looks cool, what texture map did you use for the snow?

Lovely work - it really evokes that 'first thing in the morning' snow, before people have walked all over it. Wonderful shadows, too - I'm in the middle of a snowy render myself, and am discovering that it's not easy to get snow to look like...well, snow! You seem to have cracked it, and I'm jealous!

Here's the tip: I used one of the ice presets and I altered it a bit in the DTE. After that it's just a question of lighting. I was lucky to get it right the second time :-) Glad you like it. Josselin

How did you get the blue highlights? That really screams snow.
cybrbeast posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 1:10 PM
my guess is a 2nd plane with another texture showing through..

Nope, just this melting ice preset (in the rocks and stone category): it's made to look blue in the lower parts of your terrain. So the terrain and the material work together, but as I said I tweaked the material a bit in the DTE. Josselin

Never too early. Yup, that's some realistic snow. Great work!

bet specularity or ambience could be tweaked to get that effect - that's what I thought of when I first saw the blue.

I still have to do without snow where I live. This fine image fills the gap a little :) I also like the snow. It looks a bit like a mat I made once, but lost when I re-installed bryce and all the libraries got reset to the bryce installation standard. I hope to fnish my entry before the end of this week.

I have to do without snow where I live too (2km from the Atlantic ocean, western tip of Brittany - France). This picture is what I remember of the snow: last time I saw some was two years ago. Josselin

You really have done a terrifc job with the snow. We are finally getting snow in the mountains over here. It has been clear for weeks (unusual for us). Since I live in Seattle, I have to drive to the mountains when I want to play in the snow. Lin
