After my rant about guitar models, Synergyauto sent me his own Washburn model for evaluation and testing. I have to say that it's nothing short of amazing, and has a level of detail which borders on the fanatical. Beyond a doubt it's a hands down winner in the detail and accuracy stakes. There are more materials than you could possibly shake a stick at - which gives you tons of options (or a headche) if you're looking for something more than just a plank with strings. It's a pretty heavy duty model, and oddly enough for a computer model it has a feeling of solidity about it. Weird, but true. I put together a few textures of my own for testing purposes, and here are the results of a couple of renders.

That's Rhino and Synergyauto for ya. Great job!

Just for kicks, check out this 'Strat' from the "VRay" (render engine for 3DS Max) Web site gallery. Hard to believe this is a 3D model, eh? (Not done by ME.) artist: Jon Watson

Sam, that Washburn looks great. The only thing I'd say is the fret dots are a bit large. I used to play a Billy-T Washburn, and I'd say Synergy's is pretty accurate. So that's what happens to my strings - the mice chew 'em off!! ;) And Norbert - that's an amazing render. My own Strat doesn't look that good! LOL!

They look great, Sam. Just two things: can I get one made out of stone? And if you crank up the feedback, you'll get rid of them pesky rodents.

Wow, the Strat is beautiful! It looks more real than my real one. As for the Washburn, Synergyauto will be releasing it for sale as soon as he makes a few slight adjustments to it. And yes, you can have a stone texture if you like. :) Silver - the Washburn in the pic is a Maverick BT 6/GBL, if that's any help. I dunno how it compares to the one you played.

HOLY CRAP! That model by Jon Watson is amazing! Where did you find this artist? Or I should say, where can I find this artist? I'd appreciate this info. Pam
