Well, first of all, seems like you are in Germany...LOL. I remember some days when I took off early in the morning on a Volksmarch thinking it would be foggy all morning only to be surprised later. I like the top pic the best. I'd have to compare a "contrasty" version of it (mostly black and white as you said) before I could "let go" of that "dreamy" look you currently have. Looks like it's "begging" for a bit of romantic verse in the upper left...(hehe)

hmm... interesting question. Not really an issue of B&W being that much higher contrast, but then you could use some heavy filters. Maybe a deep yellow filter, for the same sort of reason that automobile yellow fog lights have less scatter... You can use a blue filter to enhance fog... Think more contrast may be dissapointing here. You have such a nice dreamy quality with the original.

its possible to achive the high contrast you were looking for on both b&W and colour, but i agree with misha, the dreamy quality works well.

In answer to your question... B&W film would not have made a difference. But like the others I think it is fine the way it is.
