I wrote this while my grandmother was dying of kidney cancer in '07, and we were all on hand to help her through her struggle. She fought for five months, going through both radiation and chemotherapy. And when you see someone you love more than yourself turning into a ghost in front of you, it does something to you. You never really feel the same again. I still don't.
