Hello Folks!
I am a professional model-builder now, but spent most of my life as a forest ecologist and person who plans for the long-term development of forests. I live high (very high - 9,000 feet) in the Central Rocky Mountains of the United States. Winter often lasts for 8 months here, so I have time to make many models. I have spent some 60 +/- years looking at oceans, rivers and streams (in addition to forests and mountains), so I like to make models of liquids and am always looking to improve my skills in that area. Models of boats should be cheap and easy for people to enjoy putting into a scene, so you'll also find some of these here and at other sites that display my models.

This is a high resolution model of the Kinneret Boat reconstructed from the archeological remains of the ancient fishing boat found on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel in 1986. This is the "Full Sail" version of the boat, and it is in *.obj file format.
The model includes the hull, sail and rigging as a single piece, and has separate objects for the rudders, oars, fishing baskets and bow rings. A simple human reference figure is included to help scale any characters developed for the boat, and there are reference images to show scale and placement of the included objects.
The document in the zip file explains something of the origins of the boat, how it would be rowed and sailed, and describes development of this particular model. Clark Cook developed the first 3D model and provided the template for this one, updated to reflect more recent knowledge.
