I had trouble finding a decent grass shader because the grass looked too flat and the tiling was too symmetrical.
So I made this. It consists of 3 shapes that fit together in a tessellated pattern. YOU WILL NEED TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN GRASS TEXTURE! (I used the Nobiax Flattened Grass one, but it's not in the zip.)
The curved edges of the tessellation break up the grid-y look of a tiled texture. The shapes can be rotated 90° on the Y axis so the textures don't line up from tile to tile.
Finally, each shape is covered with low-poly grass blades to further hide the repeating pattern and give the grass depth. Altogether, the grass, while not perfect, is much more believable. Poly count is not exorbitant. My system isn't state of the art by any means and I was able to use this with no problems.
Includes a PDF manual to get you started.

Much Thanks - solves many scene problems! I will use the Tessellated Grass System in a number of scenes so am setting up as a separate prop.

So typically of my luck - within 2 weeks of creating / posting this I come across this tutorial on how to break up texture tiling. you tube dot com /watch?v=-VgtSL5ZpYc It's for Blender not DAZ though. It's nice to see they took an approach not too different from mine, just far better implemented.

Thanks! This is going to (_hopefully_) be thing that finally makes me do something on a grass surface (instead of wood or carpet flooring)!
