Filmicizer: An ACES Emulator for Poser 12 Renders

Product Notes

The Filmicizer scripts for Poser 12 operate directly on exported renders to emulate ACES, the standard color space in the film industry, to bring greater realism than simple sRGB, the outdated standard for household devices, ever could! In a nutshell, the dynamic range of the typical renderer's default color system is actually rather pitiful compared to that of the human eye or even a mediocre camera, which often hamstrings attempts at photo-realism.

No more! I took the color math BagginsBill did with shader nodes and implemented it in the form of a Python script that takes an exported render as input and yields a "filmicized" version as output. Although HDR is always the recommended input format for the truest filmicization, in my tinkering, I stumbled upon a way to roughly imitate the effect on a JPG as well, so scripts for both formats are included.

UPDATE: If the Python commands given in the instructional PDF don't work, try removing the underscore from the second line.

Oh, I'm so glad you found the problem! I hope you find it useful! It may be particularly helpful with renders that show some clipping, so if you have any of those, they might make excellent fodder for playing.

Oh, I found the issue.... I'm so sorry LMAO it was something silly. I'm a beta tester for Poser. I was using a beta version. OOPS! Maybe the installation of this might change in future Poser versions, I don't know - for now I just went back to the latest public version of Poser and it installed correctly, exactly per the instructions. Now I'm off to play with this, thank you!

Ok, I got annoyed and ignored the _internal altogether, and did the command as pip.main. It at least... did something. Gave me a warning telling me to check issue 5599 in pip's github (which I'm doing right now, but I'm not a programmer so I'm understanding basically nothing of it), spent some minutes giving me errors in various Poser files and is now stuck in "Downloading %s" for the past half an hour LMAO

I'm now trying several ways this could be typed, nothing works. Isn't there some file I need to have to install this open cv?

I just tried the recommended code on my tablet PC, and it took a bit of time during which the console spewed quite a bit of its own code back at me, but in the end, it said, "Successfully installed opencv-python-4.5.5.64." Going back to my desktop PC, I tried an experiment. I entered the code again, but this time, I deliberately included two underscores (__) instead of just one (_). The results replicated your AttributeError problem exactly, so a typo is seeming even more likely as the cause. Are you sure you didn't accidentally enter two underscores instead of one?

I'll wait for the correction. Looks yummy though!

Hmm. It looks like it thinks you're calling a method that doesn't exist. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any obvious cause, other than one or both of us making a typo at some point. I'm afraid it'll take some tinkering to figure out, so stay tuned! For whatever it's worth, I got the code from Y-Phil on this thread: https://www.renderosity.com/forums/threads/2971113/installing-third-party-packages-into-posers-internal-python-installation

Hi! Can't wait to try this! I'm getting an error when following the installation though. When I type the commands in python shell, I get this error: AttributeError: module 'pip' has no attribute '_internal' Help please? :)
