Softwares: DAZ Studio 4.21 (Needed for Genesis 9)
Base Figures: Genesis 8 Female, Genesis 8 Male

With the release of G9, lots of people are wanting to apply poses to G9 in general, and V9 in particular. The limited poses bundled with G9 makes everyone want to use G8F/M poses... BUT, as G9 has different bone names, that doesn't work.
So, can I offer a solution. It allows you to transfer poses from G8F/M to G9. Due to the similarity of the rigging, it's possible to transfer both the body and facial rig poses. G9 actually has fewer facial bones than G8, so the transfer is approximate with the face. Visemes are only transferred in so much as they affect the rigged part of the face.
As with my other pose transfer scripts, you need to select the G8F/M and G9 character's hip bones then press the 'Accept' button. Killey1999 needs credit for the part of the script that tries to pre-select the characters the script will work on.
Hope it is useful.
Please note regarding DS release required: I use DS 4.15, & G9 works so far. Just specified DS4.21 because that's the official G9 release

I have an update to do on this. Firstly my understanding of the metatarsals bend was wrong when I wrote it. Furthermore I have been offered some help on visemes and their conversion from G8 to G9. That will improve things, and I have worked out a better way of selecting the two characters. So, I need to do an update. Just not sure when. Soon if I can.... Regards, Richard

THANK YOU! I was thinking about getting a product on DAZ when I stumbled across this. Even if if doesn't transfer as well, the poses will still a great starting point
richardandtracy 11:53AM | Tue, 31 January 2023
I am pleased to hear that it has been useful. I am currently in the planning stage for a G9->G8 transfer script and may make a start on it within a month or so. Not sure when I'll finish, but one is coming.

Much belatedly, thank you for this script which saved me a lot of time when releasing G9.
maneki_neko 3:17PM | Fri, 20 January 2023
thanks a lot! very useful! especially since i won't buy anything new/pay for g9 for quite a while: after months/years of lagging behind with DS upgrades (old crappy laptop, read somewhere 4.15 crashed old systems, gave up upgrading), following an advice from DS support about some new products not loading properly i got the 4.21 beta, and with it well ofc g9. but while 4.21 crashes a lot less as i expected or not really much actually, it did crash while rendering only g9 with hair sitting on the floor.. no idea what was the issue. so yeah, i can experiment with g9 - maybe - but not for money until my laptop is not a piece of garbage any more, lol. so every freebie script/whatever that transfers poses, clothing etc from older figures is welcome ^^

Wow you are quik! Not using G9. Stopped by 8.1 Yes will wait for the backwards. Thank you.
riuken 7:36PM | Sun, 27 November 2022
Thanks for the script, I tested for the expressions and work nice.
FelixFFDS 4:28PM | Thu, 03 November 2022
As I continue to transfer poses, I'm finding that going through the process with your scripts is probably more effective. Sure, at this time, I'm going, say, V4 to G8 and then G8 to G9 to end up with the V4 (or Gx) to G9 pose. It's still a few extra clicks, but definitely not a chore.
richardandtracy 6:10PM | Wed, 02 November 2022
I think there is a risk of losing information the more steps you use in a pose transfer. RiversoftArt's Bone Minion is good, but it comes with disadvantage - it costs money, whereas my scripts don't.
FelixFFDS 4:24PM | Wed, 02 November 2022
I will add, that the same thing can be accomplished using your Gx to G8 scripts ...
FelixFFDS 4:18PM | Wed, 02 November 2022
I've been using it to transfer my favorite G8 poses. Note that with Riversoft Arts "BONE MINION" products, you can also use this G8 to G9 script to transfer G1, G2, G3, V4 poses.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was worried about trying G9 because of lack of poses so now I can make my own variety thanks to your super awesome script! ❤️

I won't be investing in the G9 series, as I am not using Daz Studio on a professional basis. I am definitely just a hobbyist. That being said, the fact that this script was released so quickly is very awesome for people like me. Thank you very much for this. I can now at least play around with the figure. 10 Thumbs up!!!

mjoe67889, I real & truly know nothing whatsoever about animation & I simply cannot do it. I have so much on my plate at the moment that I cannot take the time to learn either. I am trying to extend this script to cover the pose control sliders, and adding a single tickbox option to the dialogue broke the formatting. As a result I'm having to learn the more advanced dialogue creation, and do all that scripting. Then I have an idea I need to work on that may enable G8 poses to go on G9 without opening G8 first. That will require a lot of experimentation which takes time. And I have a G8->G1 pose transfer script I'm committed to and have started.

The different proportions of the G9 compared to the G8 makes working with converted poses still annoying. But this script is a great start. Thanks very much!

Thank you very much
mjoe67886 1:43AM | Mon, 24 October 2022
I just figured out with this script you could convert a genesis 8 animation into a genesis 9 but you gotta do it frame by frame that's like you know 30 clicks of your script for a 30 frame animation but it's still doable would you mind converting this script to work on animation because it's that simple all you gotta do is loop it.... I would be so appreciative if you would I make tutorials I'll even make a tutorial about it if you do ...TO promote you

Padhina, there will be a script going from G9 to G8, but not yet.

Thank you! But is there a script to do the opposite? For those who are still going to stick with G8 for a long time. It would be nice. :)
stripe6499 7:39PM | Sun, 23 October 2022
A big thank you for this. It will help tremendously. I've already used it a few times and it works fine, with, as you say, a few tweaks to the transferred pose.
richardandtracy 4:33PM | Sun, 23 October 2022
Catweazle, I think you must be the first where it doesn't work for you with G8M. I have done an image in my gallery of one pose transfer I did with it. Not quite sure how it could fail to work and then after a name change then work. I'm stumped with that.
Catweazle 4:21PM | Sun, 23 October 2022
It does not work with G8M. I edited the file and Search&replaced G8F with G8M and saved it as new file. Then it works.

Turns out I was able to edit the text without Mod help. That's good.
richardandtracy 1:08AM | Sun, 23 October 2022
In the case of G9, male and female use the same base figure. If you want a G8M pose converted, just select G8M with the correct pose and convert that. This has been tested over on the DAZ freebie forum and works properly. I need to update the description here but will need a Mod to help me because something doesn't seem to work properly in the saving of the edits.

going to make one for g9 male? I'd love to have one!

Yep, I will do a G9->G8 one day, not immediately as I don't think it is vital at the moment. I had a bit of unexpected time available to do this script.
T0mcat00 7:32AM | Sat, 22 October 2022
Great job... but would it be possible to get a script to transfer G9 poses to G8 figures, too? Considering that many people will now come out with G9 poses but also many people will keep using G8 figures there might be some demand for something like this.... like... I would have that demand ;)

This was one of the biggest worries of everyone, I am sure, and to think that you came out with a solution so quickly and for free was extremely generous of you!
richardandtracy 11:15PM | Fri, 21 October 2022
Glad it seems to be useful. There is more detail on how to use it than I was able to include in this freebie description in the DAZ freebie forum here:(https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/598316/g8f-m-pose-transfer-to-g9). Due to tests by AllenArt, AOBB and Pendraia it's been shown that the script also works with G8M poses being converted to G9.
