This made me very happy to see. I have a little pile of universal greeblies I made by casting a rubber mold of one and then re-casting in resin.

I knew what it was from Adam Savage talking about it.

Back in the days of physical model-making for sci-fi movies such as Star Wars, Alien and many others, model-makers would often raid parts from plastic model kits (a process known as "kit-bashing") to use as extraneous details on their models. George Lucas coined the term "greeblies" for all those little bits of add-on detailing, and one greeblie in particular became such a favorite "go-to" piece for Industrial Light and Magic's modellers that it earned the nickname "The Universal Greeblie". The part was from a 1/72 scale model kit of a German WW2 railroad artillery gun, and it was popular because it could be used as an interesting bit of detail regardless of the model's scale. Plus it looks functional and has curves which catch the light well.

ok, I'm curious what is it? Looks like some kind of pressurized hatch door?
