Description

finally, i've been working on this picture since last night... it's a combo of an over and under exposed image. blending the sky area was a pain in the arse to say the least! it's not perfect but i'm finding out it's as good as i'm going to get it. by far one of my favorite shots of this place. i was bored and this is literally 5 minutes from home so...more practice...lol!!! thank you for looking and your kind words on my previous posts!!! i hope you enjoyed!!! some had asked on my other two waterfall shots what the settings i used were. i don't have them handy but i do for this one. keep in mind this was taken between 8:30 and 9pm so it really was a low light set up. day shots will require less time to expose but the rest of the settings should still be the same, i may use in the daylight a higher f/stop to control light a little better. lastly and this goes without saying, tripod mounted. exposure: 3sec @ f/25, iso 200. preset white balance. Gorgeous image Eric!! I've always loved waterfalls, and I plan to add some images of Cumberland Falls here in Kentucky to my gallery sometime near the end of this month, or next month. This image is wonderful, and I think your combination worked just great!

Very nice. Perhaps a touch of curve leveling in Photoshop to bring out some light & detail in the trees without making the photo too bright. Even without that it looks nice, I like the feel.

Not only do you pick up more detail at dusk but if you look, you can see the water has more detail than just appering like fog. The foreground is fabuless and I am glad you kept this one in colour.

Thank you for sharing this, combining is not easy indeed since gamma's should need to be compressed etc.. And computers seem just not capable to show the tonal range so well. Excellent work, keep practising!

The darkness shows off the water perfectly. Nice hint of colour in the sky.
