Description

Well, I've been a very lucky lady this summer. Let me explain why. When I was a child I knew this wonderful character of a man who was a great friend of my father's before I was ever a twinkle in the eye. Dartagnon Alexetos had been a huge talent in this small area for many many years. Some people wonder why I'm there painting, and all I have to say is that it's an honor for me. He has had several carousel animals ready and mostly painted for some time, but they needed good eyes and some TLC, so I brought my many years of painting talent to him no charge. He's family. He has taught my husband to carve and probably many others as well. I have the results of their combined efforts in my living room. They carved..I painted. Dart decided I know what I'm doing and he's letting me have artistic freedom to tidy up the animals and get them ready for him to sell or showcase. He said he wasn't going to carve anymore, but I asked him if he ever did a frog..and now he's carving me a frog. That's how kind he is..not only passing down the craft through teaching, but by gifting in such a way. You see he's done a frog before..it's on a small carousel in the Smithsonian Museum. I couldn't be more excited..and he's very jolly about having two people he's known and can trust coming to visit him a few hours each day. In the image you see are two horses I've been fixing up..the center one is finished and Dart's very excited about it. I'm so pleased. The other one still needs the eagle on the saddle touched up and the jewels fixed..and such. I'm on it!*LOL* In the one picture you'll see news paper articles and wall ephimera I see every day..and the other you'll see Dart discussing either kittens, carving, or my frog..with my husband. Gives the guys time together and me my joy of painting. Hope you'll enjoy..I'll show more as I get them finished. PS..everyone please put yesterday behind you..life's too short. *HUGEST HUGS* Lots of love..Robin

Wow how very cool this is the fact that are still people with the skills from a bygone era still creating by hand. And your abilities to paint and bring the pieces to life tis a match unequal in todays assembly line world. Great work by all of you.

This is beautiful, beautiful work. People who can do things with their hands are so rare these days. In a world of machines, automation and computers... it's great to see things done the "old fashioned" way. Keep at it...
