Space has no atmosphere so how can one build a steam engine even with closed cycle. At some point perpetual motion extinction requires makeup water and an exhaust. The V-2 started with steam and switched to alcohol. So far in spite of suspected ice and rock chemistry the lessons of engineering are left behind on earth.
