Description

We've been sitting under a storm all day and there's just no wind pushing it away. Lots of rain, very humid and loads of lighting. So I'm sitting here and wondered if I could capture a shot of lightning. Done it before, but it was luck more than judgement. Out I go with my camera set to rapid shot and I take maybe 200 pictures and miss maybe 5 strikes. I'm about to give up and go back into the cool, when I give it one more go and CRASH, the biggest strike of the evening. And here it is. It was totally dark outside. Everything is lit from this single strike. FujiFilm Finepix S5000 JPEG Format(Sorry Mel, RAW wasn't quick enough ;-) Shutter 1/4sec f/2.8 ISO 200 Thanks for looking

Wonderful capture, Lighting is so hard to capture, excellent. I think I'm getting the same weather here... in central Indiana.

LOL, sorry...yea RAW takes a little more time to write to the disk...sorry about that mate. ;) I've always wanted to capture lighting, but never had an ideal spot to which to capture it. We had the same thing up here in the northern part and while I was talking to a friend on the phone the tornado sirens went off...so needless to say, we got the hell out of dodge. ;) It doesn't look like you captured this at night...I love the purple hues it gives off and with the purple flowers in the front. Nice job here Phil...just glad you didn't get electrified. ;)

I love this shot and any perspective on Nature itself. Great capture and outstanding timing! Excellent work! We had to wait until some storms to regress so that we could continue with our flight and move on. Kudos my friend!!!
